Typhoon Odette (Rai) struck us on December 17th 2021 around 6 at night, when the strong wind changed its speed. We were totally surprised or rather shocked when the wind intensity rose suddenly.
The forecast was signal no. 1 until around 4 to 5 P.M. when the communication collapsed. No internet, no phone services, totally no signal. All we could do was to observe and prepare to evacuate. But it was too late.
The waves arose 5 to 10 m heigh from the open sea and smashed every structures when they hit the shore. Debris, huge logs, rolling boats… everything in their way hit the break water wall and destroyed all of our sheds, bars, kubos (native huts). At least 85% was totally damaged.
We thank God that we were able to make a plan and secure ourselves to the higher grounds with all the kids from the neighborhood and all our pets.
The next morning we faced a total disaster. Even the old couldn’t remember having seen any of that had happened before.
The damages were severe. But thanks to all of our families, friends, neighbours who helped us restore and fix everything, Christmas was merry after all. God is good, indeed!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT !!!
